Planning a skip-gen trip for the grandparents and the grandkids? Road Scholar can help with that. A non-profit travel organization focusing on educational travel for adults, Road Scholar has offered skip-gen tours since 1985, so this is one brand that already knows this trend well — and this year, it’s offering brand-new tours to cater to growing interest.
More than two-thirds of the tours Road Scholar plans to offer to grandparents and their grandchildren in 2024 are international, and new skip-gen tours for 2024 head to Panama, Germany, Copenhagen, the Amalfi Coast and more.
So, what can you expect during a Road Scholar skip-gen tour? Well, for example, a new tour in Germany focuses on fairy tales and the Black Forest. See where favorite fairytales originated and visit castles, unique and interactive museums and more. Likewise, in Copenhagen, families will learn about Hans Christian Andersen, Shakespeare, Vikings and similar figures from history, with trips to castles, museums, the opera and the Lake District.
“The appetite for global exploration is stronger than ever,” said Maeve Hartney, chief program officer, Road Scholar. “Our participants have shown us that they’re really ready to get out there and explore the world again this year, and their grandkids are just as eager to travel abroad with them.”
