Summer is right around the corner and that means vacation plans are in full force. While most family travelers look for fun places to beat the heat, one destination is often overlooked: Arizona … and Scottsdale, to be more precise.
This desert destination may not be the first place that comes to mind as you plan your summer vacation. After all, it can get pretty hot once summer gets into full swing, but the city is actually a pretty smart choice, especially when you’ve got a whole family to entertain.
The high season for Scottsdale is January–April, which means hotel prices go down during the summer. This allows families to stretch their budget further so they can stay longer and do more on their vacation.
The city is also less crowded, making it easier to enjoy attractions and activities throughout the city, not to mention the great experiences to be had at the city’s family-friendly hotels, which often makes for the perfect destination all by itself, especially during the hot summer months.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess offers a number of activities designed to give families the perfect summer vacation that takes advantage of the sunny weather while letting you have fun beating the heat. They have several pools including Sonoran Splash Pool, complete with giant waterslides, and Sunset Beach Pool, featuring white sand to create the quintessential summer beach vibe.
The Princess also offers a Summer Camp program for kids ages 6–12. The program includes access to all five pools except the adults-only pool and fun activities like lagoon fishing, poolside games, campfire storytelling, sandcastle building and gold panning. Kids also get to enjoy a fun version of a drive-in movie. The Dive-In Movie experience lets them enjoy popular, family-friendly films while they float in the pool.
While there is plenty to do in and around the city like visiting multiple attractions at the Arizona Boardwalk (complete with an aquarium, Museum of Illusions and much more), resorts like the Fairmont Princess will keep the family happy, comfortable and cool while they enjoy their vacation in the midst of the beautiful Sonoran Desert.
