With more than 300 acres of skiable terrain, Pajarito Mountain in Los Alamos, New Mexico, invites family travelers to experience an unforgettable ski getaway for all ski levels. Featuring varied terrain with trails for different skill levels, Pajarito Mountain is a hidden-gem ski destination out west.
The area offers free skiing for kids 12 and under, as well as ski lessons for beginners. Experienced skiers can take on challenging runs while beginners can try their hand at the gentler slopes. Lifts run between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on all operating days. Pajarito Mountain also offers $10 in resort credit on Thursday and Friday. The ski site also offers Camp Bluebird for kids ages 7–12 to learn to ski. This camp is a four-session youth ski and snowboard school program.

Pajarito Mountain also offers several dining and shopping outlets, including Pajarito Mountain Café.
Pajarito Mountain isn’t the only family-friendly site in the area, though. After a day of skiing, bring the family to Los Alamos to learn about pivotal historical moments in American history, including the history of Oppenheimer and The Manhattan Project at Manhattan Project National Historical Park.
Immerse the family in the ancient history of Puebloan cliff dwellers at Bandelier National Park. Or, for outdoor lovers, head to Valles Caldera National Preserve to observe wildlife, hike, bike or even embark on a snowshoe adventure.
This winter, don’t miss out on time at The Los Alamos County Ice Rink, the only outdoor, refrigerated, NHL regulation ice rink in New Mexico.
