Boston’s free summer movie programs don’t stop when school puts an end to summer family travels. Several different organizations sponsor these outdoor movies in parks and other locations throughout Greater Boston through mid-September and even into October.
The free Mayor’s Movie Nights are held in city parks, featuring popular family films like Encanto, which shows Aug. 22 in Hyde Park, and again Aug. 25 in Charlestown. On Aug. 23, Soul will play in the South End and again on Aug. 30 in South Boston.
On Aug. 29, Raya and the Last Dragon will be shown in Brighton and, on Thursday, Sept. 1, the series ends in Downtown Boston with a showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
The final two movies in the free, family-friendly summer series at Prudential Center’s South Garden are Sing 2 (Aug. 20) and Trolls: World Tour (Aug. 27). The final showing in the Summer Sunday Movies at Christopher Columbus Park series in the North End is Batman Begins (Aug. 21). SummerFlicks at Patriot Place in Foxborough shows Spider-Man: No Way Home (Aug. 24).
Friday night movies on the Loring Greenough House lawn continue through early fall. On Aug. 26, Crazy Rich Asianswill play, followed by Encanto Sing-Along on Sept. 16 and Beetlejuice on Oct. 7.
Bring a blanket or low lawn chairs and enjoy the late summer and fall evenings under the stars.
