Earlier this week, TripScout, a travel entertainment platform for the traveler that dreams every day about their next trip, announced it surveyed 3,000 app users to understand the perceptions and expectations of travelers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey will then assist the industry in making informed strategic decisions as the virus continues to impact the world.
The survey asked its users about the expected impact and duration of COVID-19; personal health and travel cancellations; and their perception of cruise lines, airlines, travel insurance providers, the government and major news media.
Some of the COVID-19 Traveler Survey Results findings include:
- The majority (77 percent) had to cancel or reschedule plans, but even more, 90 percent, plan to travel again in 2020
- 70 percent are planning trips with a six-month lead time, with about one-third (34 percent) booking refundable future travel
- Trip insurance has not been helpful for COVID-19 cases
- Travelers place high trust in public health authorities like World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control, while they have low levels of trust for national governments and major news media
- There is no change in the willingness to travel domestically or internationally in the future
“COVID-19 has severely impacted tourism worldwide as we quickly shift to change our way of life to mitigate the spread and outbreak of the virus,” said Konrad Waliszewski, founder and CEO, TripScout. “We wanted to quickly survey frequent travelers in order to gauge its impact on current and future travel plans. We hope this survey will shed light on what travelers are actually doing and thinking in order to help our industry better navigate the crisis.”
TripScout also announced its #TravelFromHome campaign to virtually share recipes, photos and more daily. You can find out more on the TripScout Nation Facebook page.
