Wisconsin has some pretty great summer fun for families. But if you want to explore beyond the Dells, you might want to head to Green Bay, where you’ll find fun and nostalgia for the whole family.
Football probably comes to mind at the mention of Green Bay, and for good reason. As home of the Packers, Green Bay’s Lambeau Field is a favorite for football fans visiting the state. (And if your family are Packers fans, it’s a super family-friendly spot to visit, with a variety of tours available almost every day except home gamedays, special stadium events and Christmas.)
But what you won’t want to miss in Green Bay is Bay Beach Amusement Park. Unlike a day at a high-ticket amusement park, visiting Bay Beach is like taking a step back in time to the days when family fun was affordable. Parking is free (unless you want a premium parking spot, then you’ll spend $7) and there is no admission fee. Like a carnival, you’ll need to buy tickets for each ride, but tickets only cost $.25 each, which means you’ll be able to get a lot more bang for your buck.
The park is filled with rides for every age, from a train ride and a Ferris wheel to a massive wooden roller coaster named Zippin Pippin that was Elvis Presley’s favorite ride. The park is open daily during summer months, with occasional late-night hours and free concerts and movie showings, making it the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful weather of the long summer days.
