With winter right around the corner, it’s time for cozy sweaters, warm blankets and spending time with your loved ones. Gather your loved ones and take a family trip to one of the coziest small towns in the country. MyDatingAdviser.com, a dating review website, looked into winter temperature; average snowfall; and number of cafés, bakeries, crafts and bookstores of various small towns. The company then analyzed the data and gave each town a Cozy Town Index Score to reveal the top coziest small towns in the United States.
Pennsylvania ranks as one of the prettiest states to visit in the winter, offering an abundance of small towns with that welcoming charm. Four small Pennsylvanian towns made the coziest small town list:
Honesdale
This town has served as the headquarters of the children’s magazine Highlights since 1946 and its quaint streets inspired the Christmas carol “Winter Wonderland.” These days, a new generation of families started businesses, creating a community and welcoming friendly travelers to the Poconos town during the winter month.
“Honesdale is progressive, but it maintains a slower pace and has a tight-knit community that wraps you up like a warm hug,” said Allaina Propst, owner, Here & Now Brewing Co. “Young entrepreneurs are taking notice.” Honesdale’s Main Street is lined with historic buildings dating back to the 1800s.
Jim Thorpe
Located in the southern Poconos, Jim Thorpe offers shopping, outdoor adventures, live music and dining. This small town is surrounded by gorgeous scenery, beautiful snowfall and winter hikes at Glen Onoko Falls.
Doylestown
Bucks County, located outside of Philadelphia, is filled with charming small towns, but Doylestown ranks at the top. In town, Main and State streets are filled with residents enjoying delicious restaurants, an old-time movie theater, window shopping and festivals. Just outside the town lies a horse farm community with acres and acres of beautiful land.
Gettysburg
Famous for its Civil War sites, Gettysburg is a great destination for history buffs. That said, the town offers a slower pace of life and overall charm, satisfying those looking to recharge and unwind. In addition to war sites, Gettysburg features a variety of inns, local shops, restaurants and more.
