Burn Calories Without Burning Budget with Bikes and Hikes in L.A.

Foodies can bring their appetites to the Grove Farmer’s Market, a local favorite and a great place to sample everything from ice cream to sushi. The market, located on the corner of Third and Fairfax since the 1930s, offers a whopping 100-plus vendors showcasing some of the best international food Los Angeles has to offer. From Mexican and Ethiopian to Japanese and French, the market is a highlight of the Hollywood Bike Adventure.

Have a shopper in the family? Join the Celebrity Bike tour for an exploration of Rodeo Drive, one of Beverly Hills’ most famous streets. You can enjoy the glamour of the two-mile stretch, featuring the $275 million-dollar shopping plaza at Two Rodeo Drive with such recognizable shops as Lanvin, Jimmy Choo and Tiffany and Co., without actually having to open your wallet.

Looking for more virtual shopping? Try the Fred Segal store on Melrose, a magnet for the rich and famous for half a century. Cher in 1995’s Clueless acquainted younger shoppers to the store, which, over the decades, boasted such regulars as the Beatles, Elvis and Bob Dylan — all drawn by the boutique’s popular brand of blue jeans.

If you have fans of the HBO show Entourage in your family, the Hollywood Bike Adventure tour includes many of the series’ top filming locations in L.A. Enjoy a bite at Urth Caffe, for example, which has locations in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and downtown L.A. and serves farm-to-table cuisine — and where you might even spot a celebrity or two.

The teens among you might enjoy the Instagrammable Wall tour, which includes the hot pink Paul Smith Wall on Melrose Avenue, an especially popular spot for selfies, or take pictures of the opulent homes and gardens along the Venice Canals. Venice Beach is also the site of some of L.A.’s most beautiful graffiti and temporary street art. At the Venice Art Walls, displayed on a concrete enclave on the beach, guides will talk about the murals and art installations as you enjoy the ocean scenery.
