Triple digit temperatures mean big savings at Phoenix-area resorts. Here are the best deals this summer for families.
One of the most family-friendly resorts in the Valley, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has six swimming pools, one with a sandy beach, plus dive-in movies and two 200-foot waterslides. There’s also a kids’ club, playground and fishing at the property’s lagoon.
Standard rooms during the high season can go for close to $300 per night, but during the summer, you can score a room for more than half that when you factor in the daily $50 resort credit that comes with the packages. Take advantage of the standard Sip, Savor and Splash package for $179 per night or the Superhero Summer package, which comes with a superhero welcome tote for $189 per night.
If you want some alone time, book the Family Moments package. Room rates start at $199, but you receive a 50 percent discount on a second room for the kids. Plus, kids under the age of 5 eat for free and those under 12 get a 50 percent discount when they order from the regular menu.
All three packages run through Sept. 2.
A retreat for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company executives when it opened in 1918, The Wigwam today has multiple pools, a kids’ fun zone with two waterslides, a splash zone and a kids’ club. During the summer, kids also enjoy water relay races, duck races down the water slide, lawn games and movies at the pool on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Its Summer Scapes packages starts at $129 and includes a daily $50 resort credit that can be used toward dining, spa services or golf on one of the three courses. The package is valid through Sept. 30. Or, you can take advantage of the resort’s many other packages, including the Stay More, Save More package and the Salute to Heroes Rate for U.S. military personnel, firefighters and law enforcement.
The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa
At The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, families can enjoy a waterpark with a 900-foot lazy river, 110-foot waterslide and FlowRider, surf simulator. The resort also has a play area where it holds balloon games, hula hoop contest, limbo and relay races. During the summer, Camp Kierland is in full swing with rafting on the lazy river, stargazing, craft-making cabin, scout cuisine and unlimited s’mores.
The Camp Kierland package rate begins at $169 per night with a daily resort credit of $50. Upgrades, such as VIP Camp Kierland passes and a take-home teepee tent amenity, are available for an additional fee.
