Foodie families, assemble for a culinary vacation in Mexico with hands-on experiences across Velas Resorts. Learn from the masters through gourmet workshops hosted at all resort locations, including Los Cabos, Riviera Maya and Vallarta-Nayarit.

Work with the hotel’s team of expert chefs and mixologists on everything from entrees and desserts to cocktails and snacks — all focusing on authentic Mexican flavors.

Grand Velas Riviera Maya & Velas Vallarta

Start with some homemade tortillas at Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, and Grand Velas Riviera Maya on the Mexican-Caribbean coast.

At Velas Vallarta, the culinary workshop teaches guests the Mexican tradition of handmade tortillas, alongside fellow guests and a resort chef. Learn all about white- and blue-corn tortillas with some superfood ingredients you might not expect, like turmeric, matcha, spinach and spirulina. Before dining on your hard work, enjoy a few food photography pointers and snap some flattering shots of your hard-earned snacks. This gourmet workshop costs $40 per person, with availability for eight guests.

Over at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya, guests head out on the Chaka’s terrace with one of the hotel’s top chefs to make tortillas by hand. Next up, participants learn to make salsa to go with their tortillas for $120 per person, with availability for 12 participants.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

Time for dessert! Head to the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit for an immersive lesson in culinary arts with a few of the resort’s star pastry chefs. Create a trio of beautiful desserts using an eclectic blend of Mexican-inspired ingredients and traditional baking styles. Sign up for the workshop for $200 a person, with availability for six guests.

Grand Velas Los Cabos

Make some Mexican macarons on the Baja California peninsula at Grand Velas Los Cabos. This macaron-crafting lesson works traditional Mexican flavors, like local tequila, mole, pistachio and damiana, into the beloved French cookie. This workshop is included in the nightly rate for guests and available for up to 10 participants.

Casa Velas

For $70 a person, play mixologist at Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta with a hands-on cocktail workshop. Use local flora and flavors to create three different cocktails: the Red Goose, combining vodka, Cointreau, pomegranate juice, raspberries, blackberries, lime and simple syrup; Fresca Brisa with gin, chartreuse, rosemary syrup, lemon juice and grapes; and Sabor A Ti made with mezcal, lime, cranberry, pineapple juice, simple syrup and fresh mint. This workshop is available for up to six guests.
