When you need a good laugh, cry, nostalgia trip or pop-culture reference, there’s a late 80s or 90s rom-com for that. Sure, they don’t all hold up (You’ve Got Mail even sounds dated), but there’s just something about a throwback movie night with your older teens and millennial kids you just have to appreciate.
Pretty Woman
One rom-com to rule them all, Pretty Woman earns its place as a beloved film in the genre for its quotable lines and mostly ridiculous plot. Skip the awkward watch with your teens and watch with the older kids instead, or just know they are all on their phones anyway and hardly paying attention. Can’t get enough of Julia Roberts? She also graces the leading lady role of My Best Friend’s Wedding, Runaway Bride and Notting Hill — just to name a few.
Overboard
Speaking of ridiculous plot lines, Overboard is a must for good heart-warming watch for all ages. See real-life couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell create #relationshipgoals in 1987 with a silly storyline keeping everyone engaged and laughing.
Moonstruck and Mermaids
See Cher in her element as a leading lady in two quirky rom coms, Moonstruck and Mermaids, with scene-stealing appearances by Nicolas Cage, Winona Rider and Christina Ricci. Highly recommend Mermaids for a mother-daughter watch for a throwback coming-of-age story.
Hope Floats
This one will make you laugh, cry (a lot) and maybe even cringe and Harry Connick Jr. chases a young Sandra Bullock all over rural Texas. Watch Bullock turn the tables on the leading man and become the chaser in While You Were Sleeping — she really can do it all.
You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally
Knock a few out at once with rom-com royalty Meg Ryan (featuring Tom Hanks twice and Billy Crystal once) marathon. See if When Harry Met Sally answers the time-old question: Can guys and girls be just friends? Another awkward scene or two, but it’s been parodied enough in modern comedies, you’ll know just when to go make popcorn.

A true delight even 10 years later, 10 Things I Hate About You brings all the rom-com drama, laughs and iconic wardrobe.
Blast from the Past
Not the most famous rom com of the century, but a personal favorite, Blast From the Past is, well, a blast from the past. Starring throwback rom-com hunk Brendan Fraser, the iconic Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek and, another rom-com list-topper, Clueless star Alicia Silverstone — this one is well worth the watch.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).
