Travel Tips

We’ve seen our fair share (and then some) of drama, trials and tribulations this year, so any reason to celebrate or plan a trip is an exciting opportunity. For the chocolate lovers and sweet aficionados in your crew, Zürich should be on your list this year or next — for many reasons, but specifically for the Lindt Home of Chocolate.

The Swiss chocolate giant may be a household name, but you’ve definitely never seen it like this. The newly opened Lindt Home of Chocolate is a 65,000-square-foot museum filled to the brim with one-of-a-kind interactive and educational exhibits, as well as home to some record-breaking attractions, like the world’s largest chocolate fountain and Lindt chocolate shop, or Chocolateria.

Right away, visitors will be blown away by the architectural marvel designed by Christ & Gantenbein (a Basel-based architectural firm), sitting in the suburbs of Kilchberg, Switzerland. The contemporary museum’s exterior complements its bright, light-filled interior, boasting clean lines and modern touches — perfectly balancing the experience alongside the historic Lindt and Sprüngli factory building, dating back to 1899.

Once inside, guests enjoy multimedia chocolate exhibitions, covering everything from the cocoa bean’s origins to the history of the chocolate-making process and the cultural impact of the sweet as we know it today.

Over in the Chocolateria, guests of all ages can create their own Lindt masterpieces, acting as chocolatiers in training while learning a little more about the creation process. Take a picture with your creation (before eating it or taking it home), but make sure to save time for a photo-op by the largest chocolate fountain in the world, standing an impressive 30 feet tall.
