Holding on to travel memories can be hard for younger travelers, whether they travel a lot or only once in a while. There are many ways to keep memories alive, like telling stories, looking back at pictures or having a keepsake for the kids to have for years to come.
Postcards
Every time you go somewhere, send yourself a postcard with your favorite memory from that trip or a little overview of what you did while visiting. Keep the postcards in a photo album or scrapbook to make it easy to look back on and remember for years after. Every once in a while, look back at the pictures on the front and the messages you wrote on the back to reminisce.
T-Shirts
Collecting t-shirts is a fun way for kids to remember travels. When they wear them to school, camp or to a friend’s house, they can look back and share stories about the trip! Once they grow out of the t-shirts, they can be saved and eventually made into a quilt for them to keep forever.
Photos
Pictures are a great way to look back on a trip. As parents, you can take the pictures on your phone and then get them printed for a scrapbook or photo album. Also, if your child is old enough, you could give them a disposable or Polaroid camera for them to take their own pictures. This way, they can look back on the trip through their eyes and remember what they thought was cool or photo-worthy in the moment.
