Multigenerational

This holiday season, South Padre Island invites travelers to celebrate the season with its Lights Over South Padre. Whether you are a local, visiting from out of town or just passing through, you won’t want to miss these holiday festivities. From dazzling light shows to festive parades on land and water, the destination is pulling out all the stops.

“This holiday season we want you to consider trading snow for sand,” said Ed Caum, director, South Padre Island Tourism. “Come out and enjoy our beautiful island and sculpt a snowman out of sand. Or would he be a sandman?” Caum emphasized there are lots of events the first week of December to help get you into the Christmas spirit.

For those looking to participate, check out the official schedule of events:

Monday Nov. 22–Sunday, Jan. 16

Gather by the South Padre Island Convention Center for the third annual Holiday Light Show that synchronizes festive lights with holiday music.

Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021

Head to South Padre Island City Hall at 5 p.m. to join Mayor Patrick McNulty as he kicks off the season with the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree.

Friday, Dec. 3, 2021

At 6 p.m., the 32nd Christmas Parade will take place along Mars to Kingfish Street. The parade will feature floats from South Padre Island residents and local businesses.

Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021

Now in its 33nd year, the Lighted Boat Parade kicks off at 6 p.m., beginning at Sea Ranch Marina. This parade attracts boats of all sizes and has multiple viewing areas. Stick around for the judging that will happen at Jim’s Pier, where a cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

For more information, a full list of events and potential rain dates, visit South Padre Island’s  website.
