Adult Children

Whether you have young adults in your family or are one, G Adventures reaches out to 18-to-thirtysomethings with trips designed for younger travelers. In addition to beefing up its line of current trips, the company is adding youth-specific tours options in Japan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the United States in 2018.

Now called 18-to-Thirtysomethings, the product was designed to meet an increasing demand for travel programs created with millennials in mind.

“Our younger customers tell us they’re looking for more real-world social experiences beyond their online life,” said Bruce Poon Tip, owner and founder, G Adventures. “They also want cool content to then share out with their digital networks. This growing interest in a social-first experience that helps young people build connections but which is also affordable, prompted us to think differently about how we market our small-group youth product.”

In the past two years, young American travelers have booked G Adventures tours all around the world, with Thailand by far leading the way as the most popular destination, followed by New Zealand, Costa Rica and Australia. Participants mostly book their travel directly, online or by phone, and spend $1,810 total on trips of about two weeks on average, which shakes out to about $130 per day.

The majority of the 185 tours in G Adventures 18-to-Thirtysomethings portfolio are priced under $2,000, not including airfare, and run from less than a week to more than nine weeks. The itineraries are designed to be fun-filled and fast-paced, and offer a range of camping, hostel or basic service level hotels.

Experiences, such as a Big Night Out, are included for 18- to 39-year-old travelers who might want to party into the night with people of a similar age, even after a full day of adventure. That said, the tours still offer locally owned accommodations, along with authentic cultural experiences and professional trip guidance by specially trained chief experience officers, hallmarks of all G Adventures tours.

To coincide with the product evolution, G Adventures also announced the launch of eight new 18-to-Thirtysomethings tours for 2018, which include a six-day Japan on a Shoestring – Kyoto to Osaka tour from $1,349; an eight-day Thailand Full Moon Party from $749; a nine-day Bali on a Shoestring from $749; Discover Kerala & Sri Lanka for 18 days from $1,949; the 21-day Indonesia Adventure – Java & Bali from $2,299; and U.S. & Canada – West Coast Discovery for 21 days from $4,499.
