Sensory Guides

Last year, the resorts launched Sensory Guides designed for guests with cognitive disabilities and featuring resort maps that rate areas on a 1–10 scale to include the level of sensory stimulation in those hubs.

 

Sensory-Friendly Villas

Also last year, Beaches Negril launched 12 multibedroom butler accommodations that include amenities to give guests complete control over their environment. With a private pool, rooftop, kitchen and more, guests can limit exposure to high-sensory areas of the resort.

Sesame Street Autistic Character, Activities

Camp Sesame at Beaches Negril underwent renovations. New offerings include Amazing Art with Julia, featuring the show’s 4-year-old character with autism. This year, the resort debuts Sesame Workshop’s #EmotionalWellbeing campaign with activities like Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga.

 

Caribbean’s First Autism-Friendly Kids Camp

Beaches Resorts also boasts the Caribbean’s first autism-friendly kids camps, offered at no extra cost. Staff at the camps undergo a minimum 40 hours of autism sensitivity training. Beaches also provides a Special Services Team to assist with planning.

Autism-Friendly Scuba Program

The scuba diving program draws many visitors to Beaches Resorts, and courses are offered for those on the spectrum.

In October 2023, Beaches hosted its first Autism Inclusion Week at Beaches Ochos Rios. The event returns this year at Beaches Negril, Sept. 22–27.
