Marvel’s latest film, Black Panther has been No. 1 in the box office and on music charts and top of mind for film buffs since the movie’s release. The powerful imagery and incredible scenery even inspired a slew of family vacations in Africa, putting families as close to Wakanda as possible.
Located in Tunisia along the Mediterranean coastline, the village of Sid Bou Said is fit for royalty. The bright white buildings with blue accents, cobbled streets and turquoise Mediterranean Sea in the near distance rivals even the most pristine Greek islands.
For families looking for a beach-meets-city destination, but with a bit more foot traffic, Dar es Salaam is your match. Tanzania’s largest city and economic hub boasts a bustling urban jungle lined with shops, restaurants and museums, but with a quiet escape toward the beaches further north, toward the coast of India, offering pristine snorkeling, secluded beaches and private islands.

Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, Madagascar
While so close to Madagascar, a visit to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is a must. Explore the incredible UNESCO World Heritage site filled with geological wonders, truly like something out of the Black Panther’s home of Wakanda.
Literally translating to viewpoint of the moon, Miradouro da Lua is an observatory in Angola boasting otherworldly beauty. Like Mars on Earth, Miraduoro’s red rugged landscape is just north of Parque Nacional do Quicama, or Kissama National Park, filled with elephants, giraffes and unique wildlife.
Seychelles, East Africa
