Family travelers can get their hands dirty in the name of Mother Nature with a new initiative at Alma Resort Cam Ranh. Every day of the week, 3–4 p.m., the resort’s Kid’s Club now offers a Green Hands, Green Future Tree Planting Activity. Guests can choose from three different trees — Golden Bell, Bauhinia variegate or a coconut tree.

“Leave your mark on our resort by selecting from three tree species that each have significant meaning,” said Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, managing director, Alma Resort Cam Ranh. “A Golden Bell is a symbol of wealth in Fen Shui planted to attract prosperity. A Bauhinia variegata represents beauty, grace and life’s transient nature. A Coconut tree is renowned as the ‘tree of life’ symbolizing generosity and resilience.”

Each participant receives a personalized name tag for their tree and photo updates as it progresses. The trees will be planted along the resort’s Walking Street, which ends at the Kid’s Club to the south and the Youth Club to the north. Staff refers to this area as the “Walk of Green” because of the increasing number of trees planted here.
The tree planting initiative is just one of many Alma makes to reduce its carbon footprint. The resort is currently installing 4,476 solar panels in what is considered Vietnam’s most ambitious solar power project. Alma also has its own on-site gardens, a chicken farm, a water treatment plant, three staff committees focused on these types of issues, an electric buggy station, paperless solutions and more.
