California’s Newest Children’s Museum Debuts in Ventura County

Children’s museums are always a great stop on any trip if you’ve got little ones. More of a space for playing and learning than actual museum, they are packed with fun, interactive ways for kids to learn about the world around them, and California just welcomed its newest one in Ventura County. So, if you’re visiting the California Coast, you’ve now got the perfect spot for some educational playtime.

Located in Camarillo, just east of beach towns like Ventura and Oxnard, kidSTREAM focuses on the important skills of science technology, reading, engineering, arts and math. There are exhibits both inside and out (brilliantly making the most out of the great weather Southern California is famous for!) that give kids a range of activities to explore.

The outside consists of play spaces replicating the local landscape, letting kids discover an interactive Pacific Ocean and the nearby Channel Islands, a farm, a campsite, and a pygmy mammoth dig site. Inside, you’ll find a growing collection of activities that let kids explore their creativity and innovation, work on honing their motor skills, and learn how things work through exhibits like Makerspace, Bright Day Big Blocks and Amazing Airways.

These spaces all give kids of a range of ages and abilities plenty of ways to explore, play, learn and work on their rapidly developing skills. The museum, which is still growing, opened May 21 to a sold-out crowd of visiting families, just in time for Memorial Day and summer vacation.
