Travel Tips

All travel can be a little stressful, but travel with kids can be extra stressful — whether you are flying or taking a road trip. It is easy for kids to get bored, cranky or impatient, so having the right tools and means to entertain them throughout the trip. Check out these helpful tips to make travel with the kids a breeze.

Have Snacks and Drinks

Kids are bound to get hungry while embarking on a trip. Always make sure to pack snacks, water and juice to keep them from whining. If you are flying, you will need to make sure you have enough time before boarding the plane to stop and get drinks since you aren’t allowed to bring liquids through TSA.

Pack Entertainment

While traveling, kids can get bored — they are confined into one space not being able to move or anything. Packing toys, books, video players or anything else that would help keep them busy. Normally when they get fussy or antsy on a trip, give them their favorite game, toy or even put on their favorite show to keep them entertained for a little while.

Keep it Simple

Don’t schedule too many activities in one day, kids can get tired and cranky if they are running around doing different things all day. Make sure there is plenty of time for them to relax and get their energy back throughout the trip.

Set Expectations

Just as traveling can be overwhelming to you, it is overwhelming for the kids, as well. Before embarking on your trip, set some expectations and ground rules for them. Give them an overview of what the travel process will look like and what they should expect throughout the trip — this will be especially helpful for the first-time little travelers.
