Sometimes “budget” just means getting a good deal, even if it’s on an expensive product. This year, families can celebrate Mary Poppins Returns in a special package at London’s 5-star Milestone Hotel, sure to keep prices in check.
The property, a posh mansion-hotel across from Kensington Palace and Gardens, offers a Practically Perfect hotel stay this season that bundles in overnight accommodations in a guestroom or suite, full English breakfast for two and a number of Mary Poppins-inspired activities.
On arrival, for example, young guests will be given a ‘silver’ tuppence coin (actually made of chocolate) they can use to buy a bird-feeding kit from The Milestone’s concierge team. The children can use the kit to feed the ducks in Hyde Park, located nearby.
Depending on the weather, kids can also opt to fly a kite “up to the highest height” in the Italian Garden at Kensington Gardens, and take their kite home with them as a souvenir for about $52.
The family package also includes a Spoonful of Sugar Afternoon Tea for two, a new afternoon tea concept with themed pastries designed to amuse young Mary Poppins fans.

Menu items include a chocolate pastry in the shape of the magical nanny’s iconic hat, a black “chimney sweeps” macaron, a cupcake served with a chocolate spoon(ful) of sugar, as well as kite-shaped biscuits covered in cherry ganache.

Meanwhile, Mom and Dad can taste The Milestone’s new Little Nip from Every Sip cocktail with their afternoon tea, made with muddled raspberries, peach liqueur, peach purée, orange juice and ginger ale. A mocktail version for young guests, called the “…Most Delightful Way,” is served in a cute little medicine bottle.
Guests will also receive a red carnation buttonhole, like the one Mr. Banks wore on his lapel in the first Disney film and as an homage to the property’s membership in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
The package is valid until Jan. 31, and is priced from about $696 per night for two. Afternoon Tea is served daily at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and can be booked priced separately from the package.
The Milestone Hotel, the London flagship of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, overlooks Kensington Palace and Gardens and is located just minutes from London’s museum district and the Knightsbridge shopping district.
