While recently visiting Miami, Florida, I was surrounded by friends and family. We decided to enjoy time on the water on a personal charter through the Miami city-scape and beautiful, bright blue waters. Finding a boat and captain was made easy with the GetMyBoat app.
The app is easy to use. Simply plug in your location, duration of charter you desire, dates and swipe through all of the available ships for your desired outing. We opted for a top-rated charter on the Sea Ray Motor Yacht. The ship had room for seven guests, perfect for our group size.
Like the Airbnb of boats, GetMyBoat allows parties to rent a boat with a licensed captain. Ours was Alejandro, a top-rated captain with a gorgeous, 34-foot yacht. Upon arrival, Alejandro greeted us at the marina gate and walked us to his boat. He gave us a rundown of the boat rules and we were on our way.
Leaving the marina, we had an amazing view of the city skyscrapers and massive, multimillion-dollar yachts. Alejandro zipped us past many celebrity homes along the water, pointing out some of my favorites and their boats. We were hopeful to possibly run into DJ Khaled as he loves to jet ski around that area. We dropped anchor and enjoyed a nice dip in the bay to cool off from the hot Miami sun. The captain made sure we were able to swim and, if not, gave us a life jacket. He also threw a floating line and some flotation devices out to ensure we had an easy time getting back to the boat if the current pulled us away.
Our four-hour excursion was relaxing, beautiful and eye-opening. Our captain ensured we had a great trip and I am excited to try out the app on my future trips.
