Sesame Street has been a popular TV show for young children for many years. Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is home to the only Sesame Place amusement park. Now, kids on the West Coast are able to experience the excitement of watching beloved TV characters come to life at Sesame Place San Diego.
Although there is no official opening date, Sesame Place is making its debut in San Diego in the near future. The new park will feature seven kid-friendly rides, and 11 family-friendly water attractions, including a 500,000-gallon wave pool.
Rides and attractions aren’t the only thing for kids to experience. The park will feature an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood complete with the iconic 123 stoop, live shows, a daily parade, photo opportunities and meet and greets with your favorite furry friends. Keep an eye out for photo opportunities in Big Bird’s Nest and a chance to dig and play in Abby Cadabby’s Garden.
Sesame Place San Diego will open as a Certified Autism Center. This means all staff will go through autism sensitivity and awareness training. There will be pre-visit resources on the website, including park-specific sensory guides, making it easier for parents to plan activities that satisfy their child’s specific needs and accommodations. Throughout the park there will be designated quiet spaces with adjustable lighting and comfortable seating for breaks.
