With warmer weather coming our way, it’s time to start planning a family-fun spring getaway. While brainstorming different destinations, keep Greater Williamsburg in mind. Check out this list of special events and activities going on this spring and summer.

 

Festivals

Throughout the summer, there always seems to be something going on in the Greater Williamsburg area, from Jamestown Day at Jamestown Settlement (May 8) to Fourth of July celebrations and more!

 

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens offers a series of special events throughout the spring and summer. Check out the fan-favorite Food and Wine Festival, which runs through May 23. Starting in June is the famous Summer Nights, where you and the family can enjoy the park after dark with fireworks, thrilling rides and more. Keep an eye out for Bier Fest, starting at the end of July, to enjoy delicious seasonal brews.

 

Gardens

Spend some time exploring the great outdoors at some of the oldest and most beautiful gardens in America, located in the Greater Williamsburg region. Visit Sweethaven Lavender Farm in Williamsburg; the botanical landscapes at America’s second-oldest college, William & Mary; the Williamsburg Botanical Gardens; the famed and stunning Yorktown Onion; and more. One thing you can’t miss is the topiary of Colonial Williamsburg and its 32,000 seasonal plants, 30,000 blubs and 500 various plant species.

 

Golf

If you have golfers in the family, check out why Williamsburg is a great golf destination, offering more than 12 championship golf courses designed by some of the greatest and providing picturesque layouts with stunning views.

 

Adventure

Go Ape Treetop Journey offers a more accessible version of an adventure course, including ropes obstacle courses and zip lines perfect for families of all ages.

The Inn at Warner Hall Reopens

The historic The Inn at Warner Hall recently reopened its doors following a restoration and renovation. The property was the ancestral home of George Washington’s great-great grandfather, Augustine Warner I, also the ninth great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II. Established in 1642, Warner Hall is one of the country’s earliest manor houses and reopen to family travelers as of March 5.
