Family-Oriented Adventure Program

Lindblad Expeditions recently introduced the National Geographic Global Explorers Program to its roster of epic cruise adventures. The Global Explorers Program, led by National Geographic’s own field educators is part of the ongoing partnership with Lindblad itineraries and the National Geographic Society’s education division.

The cross-branding and shared resources between the two organizations take parents, children, students, young adults and all adventurers on epic excursions through some of the most sought-after destinations in the world.

Families of all ages set sail for the Galapagos Islands onboard the National Geographic Endeavour II and National Geographic Islander during the soft-launch of the program back in June. Guests experienced wildlife firsthand with a mix of onboard and land expeditions with expert guides. The Galapagos excursion was so successful National Geographic will roll out similar educational, immersive adventures across the Lindblad fleet — beginning with Lindblad’s Alaskan itineraries.

Designed with travelers 18 and younger in mind, participants are provided field notebooks to log their findings and experiences over the course of the trip. Kids engage in various educational activities both onboard and on land, including naturalist-guided games and wildlife-spotting challenges known as “spot-it.”

Participants are encouraged to use maps, take thoughtful photos and notes and even create a film of their experience. The documenting further engages participants in their surroundings while ultimately creating a story detailing their time onboard.

For children interested in any facet of wildlife conservation, National Geographic documentaries, photography, videography and immersive adventure, this new program will be a great way to keep kids engaged and active in their areas of interest.

Being that the program is an optional aspect of the fleet’s itinerary, there is no additional charge for the program. Adventurous families can opt for individual itineraries or take in the adventure together. Kids 18 and younger travel for $500 less than the adult fare on Lindblad excursions. The official launch will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Lindblad’s first Galapagos exploration in 1967.
