Headed to Nashville with the family? This city offers an amazing food scene, no matter your tastes. Whether you’re looking for some classic southern fare or you want to try the best of Nashville’s talented chefs, this city serves it up.

Here are five family-friendly options to consider for your next trip to Music City.

For breakfast, swing by Five Daughters Bakery in East Nashville, where the motto is “nothing is sweeter than family.” The top choice on the menu is the 100 Layer Donut, but you’ll have a difficult time picking through all the different flavors — there are even some gluten-free options. Teens will definitely want to take some photos in the Instagram-worthy storefront.

While in East Nashville, grab a snack (and some more sugar) at Olive & Sinclair, a craft chocolatier creating mouthwatering small-batch chocolate confections. If you’re lucky, you can catch a tour of the chocolate-making facilities and learn about the brand’s process (or, if you’re smart, you’ll just book the tour online ahead of your arrival). You can still browse the small store without a tour and try some samples before picking your favorites to take home.

Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant boasts several locations in and around Nashville, even expanding into other major cities in the state. The casual eatery serves up rib-sticking hearty meals, from barbecue to chicken n’ dumplings. The friendly staff will make you feel at home and the laid-back vibe will encourage you to stick around — and maybe enjoy a dessert or two.

If your child particularly enjoys food and learning more about a destination, then you may want to consider a Walk Eat Nashville tour. Children are welcome on the tours (though there are no reduced ticket prices for kiddos). The Midtown tour takes you to six tasting stops over the course of three hours, and you’ll get a chance to meet some of the chefs and teams creating some of the best food in the neighborhood.

One of the stops on the tour you might want to pay another visit is Gigi’s Cupcakes. This is the original Gigi’s location, serving gourmet cupcakes with frosting piled high in a signature swoop. Gluten-free and dairy-free cupcakes are available, making this a must-visit if you have someone with both a sweet tooth and food sensitivities in your family.
