Pennsylvania offers plenty of state parks and great hiking trails to explore. Grab your hiking gear, your family and your friends, and set off on one of these hiking trails in Pennsylvania.
Located in Benton, Ricketts Glen State Park offers 11 trails ranging in difficulty and distance, some less than one mile and some more than seven. Before setting out on your adventure, make sure to do your research and decide which trail is right for your group. Make sure you visit one of the 21 waterfalls while on your hike.
Located in Philadelphia, this park offers more than 50 miles worth of trails in a beautiful forest, making hikers forget they are just outside the city. The Forbidden Drive trail runs five miles along the Wissahickon Creek — it’s a flat gravel trail perfect for hikers of all abilities and ages. If you are looking for something more adventurous, check out the Orange to White Trail, where the terrain is varied and can be rugged with occasional steep climbs.
Head to Kempton for breathtaking views from Hawk Mountain. With multiple different trails to choose from, pick the right one for your group. Whether you are looking for an easy or difficult hike, there is a trail for you. Trails range in distance (less than one mile to more than five), difficulty, terrain and accessibility.
The Leonard Harrison State Park Turkey Path
Located near Wellsboro, the Turkey Path trail is a 1.7-mile moderate trail featuring numerous waterfalls and beautiful views. This area of Pennsylvania is known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon — once you get to the top, you’ll understand. This path is an out-and-back trail, so once you get to the end, you’ll have to turn around to go back where you came from. On your way back, look for new views you didn’t notice before.
