Even more families and avid travelers are taking to the open road this year, seeking the great outdoors and wide-open spaces — can you blame them? Following this trend, Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s frequent-stay program, knows its audience and is partnering with the National Park Foundation to offer benefits and discounts for loyalty members and nature lovers alike, as well as an easy roadmap to discovering our nation’s parks.

With so many parks and nearby participating Marriott properties, the task of planning a national park trip can seem overwhelming, but Marriott Bonvoy Traveler’s site help travelers plan, book and organize their trip with expert tips and planning guides from locals.

Some simple advice for beginners or annual parkgoers alike, pick your favorite parks or your must-visit stops, create your own timeline based on where you want to go and make Marriott work for you. Between Marriott’s 406 properties servicing nearby parks, you’re bound to find a few along your chosen route.

Marriott Bonvoy members can jump on special discounted rates, as well as receive earning points for future stays and free nights throughout their journey. Click here for more information. For any non-members thinking they are missing out, take this opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and reap the same (or nearly the same) rewards as current members.

“In 1916, legislation creating the National Park Service was enacted. The noble vision behind the act has provided generations of Americans and visitors abroad the gift of experiencing our country’s greatest treasures,” said Brian King, global officer, digital, distribution, revenue strategy & global sales, Marriott International. “We are thrilled to offer Marriott Bonvoy members a convenient way to plan road trips and explore historical sites and national wonders with their friends and families with this one-of-a-kind travel partnership. The opportunity to experience breathtaking scenery in pristine wilderness settings while giving back to the National Park Foundation is invaluable and will help preserve parks for future adventure seekers.”

Members can check out the website for ways to save, and gather more information about their destination from Marriott Bonvoy Traveler. Some member rates begin at $99 per night with the ability to redeem points for annual park passes and donate up to $500 worth of points to the National Park Foundation.

“National parks have something for everyone, and we can all play a role in helping to preserve them,” said Stefanie Mathew, senior vice president of corporate partnerships, The National Park Foundation. “The National Park Foundation is thankful to Marriott Bonvoy for not only offering members a nearby place to rest their head after a day full of park adventures, but also the support to help ensure these treasured natural and cultural sites are protected now and into the future.”

While hitting the open road and seeing America with your family is already the quintessential dream family vacation, it’s also an educational one for all ages. Learn about sustainable travel and practice green initiatives along the way. Teach the kids to leave the land as, or better, than they found it, leave no trace and appreciate the natural wonders of our world and how important it is to preserve them.
