Age Specific / Kids

Something for the Artists

Bring the kids and head to downtown Lake Worth, Florida, for the annual Street Painting Festival. Local artists take to the streets with eco-friendly chalk and create true works of art.

Feb. 24–25, enjoy live music and street performers while tasting southern fare from street vendors. Watch while artists create temporary street art only to be washed away by the next rainfall.

Something for Small Town Fun

The Florida State Fair boasts an assortment of family-friendly activities Feb. 8–19, from rides and games to live music and competitions. Check out the agricultural exhibits and teach kids about farming; visit the circus; or head to one of the many animal exhibits, including Welde’s Bear Show, sea lion visits and pig races.

For the Foodies

Everyone loves a good French fry, but maybe not as much as the originators of the French Fry Festival in St. Petersburg, Fla. The French fry event brings kids, families and pets from all over to St. Petersburg for elevated French fry cuisine and inspired dishes. Local food trucks fill Albert Whitted Park Feb. 16 along the water while live music plays and the kids hit the playground.

For seafood lovers, the Everglades Seafood Festival provides more than 100 vendors hocking seafood from fresh shellfish to fried alligator. Feb. 9–11, check out carnival rides with the kids while enjoying live country music, playing games and arts and crafts for the little ones.

Something for the Little Gamers

The Great LEGO Race begins March 23, at LEGOLAND Florida Resort. Bring the kids to opening day for the first virtual reality coaster experience of its kind. Picture VR Mario Kart, but in LEGOLAND.

The VR roller coaster brings animated action and LEGO characters to varied virtual plains for the big race — made of LEGO bricks, of course.

Kids, 6 years old and up, experience the 360-degree adventure using VR headsets to feel completely part of the game. Children with an aversion to headgear or fear of restraints can still enjoy the coaster and ride without a headset.

Headsets can be fitted for those 6 years of age or older, including big kids and adults. Race to the finish line to the virtual Funnel Cake Factory in anticipation of the soon-to- open confectionary stand just steps from the ride.

Tickets vary by park and activity, so check out the site for more information.

Florida is a big state with a diverse landscape, offering a wealth of activities for visitors. Check out Visit Florida’s site for more events happening this month.
