Budget

With 10 provinces to explore, from rugged coastlines and soaring mountains to vibrant cities and wide-open spaces, Canada has loads to offer and is a popular destination year-round. The bi-lingual country — both English and French are the official languages of Canada — celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2017, and the celebration is sure to continue through 2018. If you are planning a visit to the United States’ neighbor to the north, where the exchange rate is approximately 80 cents U.S. on the Canadian dollar and round-trip airfares are less than $400 from select U.S. cities to Canadian cities in April via skyscanner.ca, consider these places to stay if you are striving to stay within a budget.

National Parks

At a count of more than 40 national parks throughout Canada, and free admission into all of them for kids up to 17 years old throughout 2018, staying overnight is a terrific idea when traveling on a budget. In-park accommodations range from camping to rustic cabins to all-inclusive properties, so there’s something for everyone and every budget. One fun option in a handful of the national parks, including parks found in Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia, to name a few, is oTENTik, a cross between a tent and rustic cabin that blends comfort and a taste of outdoor adventure.

Delta Hotels

With nearly 40 properties across Canada, in big cities and small towns, the mountains and even near a national park, Delta Hotels has plenty of options when it comes to finding affordable and comfortable accommodations. The hotel brand prides itself on focusing “on the details that matter,” as well as new, modern guestroom designs and an innovative use of technology. What’s more, the acquisition of Delta Hotels by Marriott International three years ago means you can take advantage of your Marriott Rewards membership, too.

Find a Home

Unsurprisingly, Airbnb has a substantial presence in Canada, so why not find a home to stay in and use as your, well, home base? From the snow-capped mountains of Whistler to the heart of Old Québec City to the shores of Prince Edward Island — and nearly everywhere in between —there are plenty of options from which to choose to make yourself right at home in Canada.
