Visiting Dublin with the family is not like traveling to most cities. The mix of quaint allure and rugged rebellious history meshes well and is proudly displayed throughout the city — perfect for multigenerational families. Take the kids of any age and visit the city’s countless landmarks of the Irish revolution, literary history and family-friendly pubs.

This urban sprawl bursts with greenery, parks and family attractions, including the Dublin Zoo and Phoenix Park. Visit the zoo wildlife, or check out the (shockingly friendly) deer roaming freely on the park green. Go for a walk and bring the strollers as this park is family-friendly, flat and spacious.

Another green space steeped in history, Trinity College resides on more than 40 acres of sprawling green, boasting incredible architecture and history. The impressive building, dating back to the 1500s, retains one of the finest historic landmarks in the Temple Bar District: Trinity College Library.

While in Temple Bar Square, take advantage of the diverse blend of upscale dining, family restaurants, unique shopping and history. Visit memorials and statues scattered along the streets, including Molly Malone on Suffolk Street. Stop in local thrift shops and stock up on woolen sweaters.

The Temple Bar neighborhood, revived in the 1980s as a cultural hub, expands from the south bank of the River Liffey to Dame Street, Trinity College and Fishamble Street and is all easily walkable. You’ll hear live music in nearly every pub and the streets really come to life at night.

Peek in around cobblestoned alleys decorated in vibrant graffiti showcasing the city’s younger side before heading to the upscale shops and dining along Dame Street.

Dame Street runs parallel to the River Liffey through the Temple Bar District. Offering sophisticated dining at The Ivy and historic sights such as Dublin Castle and City Hall, Dame Street is a must stop. A five-minute walk away, Grafton Street, famous for high-end shopping, boasts a picturesque pedestrian walkway.

Enjoy the city to the fullest and grab a family pass for the hop-on, hop-off bus tours. Taking tourists to the top sites around the city, you can easily hop off and explore and hop on another bus when you’re ready to try something new. The kids will love the experience, veiled spontaneity and rest from all the walking you can do in this small, well-organized city.
