Skiing is one of the most family-friendly activities sports enthusiasts can do in winter, but, unfortunately, it’s also an expensive one. The good news is Colorado Ski Country USA’s member resorts take some of the sting out of sticker shock by offering fun and affordable skiing and riding opportunities for families by offering Kids Ski Free programs across the state. Parents and families can take advantage of free and discounted lift tickets for children, specialized lessons and rental discounts to plan a ski vacation experience that won’t break the bank.
Following are a few examples of deals your family can take advantage of:
The Kids Ski Free policy allows children aged 6 and younger to always ski free at Aspen Snowmass; kids 7 to 12 can ski free with two or more nights of lodging through Stay Aspen Snowmass or with children’s ski or snowboard equipment rentals from Four Mountain Sports. The latter program, valid through April 15, is available for an unlimited number of days when renting from Four Mountain Sports. Mention Kids Ski Free when you book.
The One, Two, Free! package offers free skiing for kids 12 and younger with the purchase of an adult two-day lift ticket. Other inclusions are a third night of lodging free, a third day of free rentals, a free half-day ticket on the day of arrival or departure and free upgrade to the Secret! Pass for early access and shorter lift lines. Children 5 and under always ski/ride free at Copper Mountain.

The Kids 12 and Under Ski Free program allows children 6 and younger to ski free at Crested Butte with no restrictions. In addition, all kids aged 12 and under ski or ride free April 1–8. No parent ticket, lodging stay or advance reservations are required.
Kids 7 years old and younger ski free every day at Purgatory Resort. Fourth grade students also ski free at Purgatory with proof of grade.
Steamboat’s Kids Ski Free and Grandkids Ski Free programs enable children 12 years of age and younger to ski free the same number of days as their parent, grandparent or legal guardian with the purchase of an adult lift ticket for five days or more.
Free lift tickets are available at the Telluride ticket window for children aged 5 and younger. Child lift tickets for kids aged six to 12 are available online at discounted rates for two or more days of skiing with an advance purchase of at least 48 hours. Telluride also offers age- and skill-appropriate children’s ski school lessons.
Kids 5 and younger qualify for beginner lift tickets for $10 a day or $30 for the season with no blackout dates. These lift tickets are intended for beginners only and grant access to the Galloping Goose chairlift at Mary Jane.
