Fly Fishing Season Kicks Off at The Chatwal Lodge

Fly fishing season is here, and it’s the perfect time for family travelers to head to The Chatwal Lodge. This all-inclusive luxury resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains kicks off this week with a variety of curated First Cast events with Covert Creek Outfitting, a long-term partner of the lodge. The hotel also debuts a new Angler’s Adventure hotel offer, which features a four-hour guided session for experienced anglers and newcomers alike to fully experience the exciting sport.

 

All guests staying at The Chatwal Lodge through April 6 will get an in-room branded tackle box, as well as a handwritten note from Covert Creek to set the tone for many activities and specials throughout the week. Here’s to getting hooked on fly fishing!

Activities and fun include:

  • Catch of the Day Specials: Enjoy Smoked Trout Chowder with wild rice and dry sherry, as well as Steelhead Trout Almondine with spinach and sorrel
  • Specialty Cocktails: Travelers aged 21 and up can sip The Anglers Campfire cocktail featuring Michter’s Rye, Catskills maple syrup, chocolate bitters and scorched orange oil
  • Movie Nights: Head to the Recreation Center for showings of Covert Creek’s favorite films
  • Workshops: Get insights and tips from Covert Creek’s team of expert anglers
  • Fly Tying, Casting Lessons and First Cast Ceremony: April 5 kicks off the season; start the day with coffee and fly-tying sessions, a ceremonial “First Cast” on the stream and open-fly casting lessons on the lawn
