Kentucky
Visit Blue Heron Mining Community. The abandoned coal town within Daniel Boone National Forest hosts an annual Ghost Train tour in mid-September. Guides bring visitors through the dim passages of the abandoned camp and recount creepy tales of the people who lived and worked in the coal town.
Michigan
Marquette County, Michigan, has seen its fair share of ghostly happenings. The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse is home to the ghost of a young girl left behind by her parents. The lighthouse now houses a museum, open to the public for tours May–October.
Mississippi
Vicksburg, Mississippi, is home to the state’s most haunted house. The pre-Civil War house is home to at least 14 ghosts. Take a history or haunted tour, or arrange a private investigation. Vicksburg National Military Park is the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. Visitors report smoke coming out of cannons, sculptures weeping blood, spectral soldier sightings and the scent of gunpowder in the air. Learn about these and other sites on The Haunted Vicksburg Ghost Walk.
