Banyan Tree Krabi in Thailand invites family travelers to experience its sustainability efforts in action. The property partners with local artisans and vendors through its Banyan Tree Gallery Krabi program.
The resort works closely with artisans from the Krabi region as well as throughout Thailand. Upon arrival guests receive a handmade pouch made by Souvenirs from the Sea using upcycled sea debris including discarded fishing nets, floats and sandals. Other items from Souvenirs from the Sea are available for purchase at Banyan Tree Gallery Krabi.

The marketplace showcases Thai artisans with goods including candles, scarves, handbags, jewelry and other products created with sustainability in mind. All profits from The Gallery go toward scholarships for art and design students in the region.
“At Banyan Tree Gallery Krabi, we try to use a minimum of packaging, and when we do, it’s with environmentally-friendly recycled or biodegradable materials,” said Thepsuda Loyjiw, sustainability manager, Banyan Tree Krabi. “We constantly collaborate with local artisans and small-scale producers to help reduce our carbon footprint at the resort.”
