With fall foliage and diverse subregions of mountains, valleys, high desert and ocean, Oregon welcomes family travelers every autumn, with each region of the state featuring its own unique experiences. Oregon’s second-largest city, however, is a must-visit, thanks to its mix of arts and culture, entertainment and sports, and nature. And with daily direct flights to Eugene Airport from Los Angeles (LAX), Denver (DEN), San Francisco (SFO), Dallas (DFW) and Austin (AUS), among others, it’s easier than ever to visit.
Here’s what to do in Eugene this fall:
Get Outdoors
Take a hike to any of the city’s 10 waterfalls, including Sweet Creek Falls. For a picturesque drive among the foliage, make a trail to see Eugene’s historic covered bridges. On the last Sunday in October, the annual Mount Pisgah Arboretum’s Mushroom Festival is a can’t-miss. The whole family can go bike riding on the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System, which winds through natural and urban centers around the city. And be sure to enjoy a live performance at Cuthbert Amphitheater or Hult Center, with fall shows including Jon Batiste, Morissey and the Twilight in Concert Tour.
