Asia

India’s vast and incredibly diverse terrain offers an array of unique tourism opportunities. Between the South Asian country’s extensive list of ancient temples and historic mosques in the Himalayan Mountains, your toughest decision will be where to travel first. Discuss a few options with the family; what do you want to get out of the trip? What do you want to see? What must-try activities does everyone have in mind? With so many possibilities, you’ll have to take a long hard look at the various cities and narrow it down from there.

Chennai

Located along the Bay of Bengal in Eastern India, Chennai boasts endless history, religious sights, 17th-century architecture and ornate temples. Enjoy the blend of beach views and unique landmarks beginning with the Kapaleeshwarar Temple.

Agra

Just a bit further north, Agra is a must visit while in India. Home to the world-famous Taj Mahal, ancient Agra Fort and Akbar’s Tomb, Agra is a hub for a quintessential India experience.

Jaipur

Also known as the “Pink City,” Jaipur bursts with royal appeal. Check out the Old City, known for the its many palaces and pink sandstone fortresses — hence the nickname. Stroll through Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort and Jantar Mantar — just to name a few.

New Delhi

India’s capital, New Delhi, consists of an astounding 11 districts, making this city one of the most diverse in the country. Get your camera ready and put your walking shoes on for a visit to the Jama Masjid. Stroll under the India Gate, a 1920s war memorial, and be sure to check out The Red Fort — an incredible Imperial fortress and museum from the 1600s.

Goa

The beaches, museums and wildlife sanctuaries of Goa will transport you to another world entirely. Head up to For Aguada for sweeping views of the Ocean, or check out the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. Head out on the hike, seeking the Dudhsagar Falls along the Mandovi River, and cool off with your feet in the water.

It’s safe to say you’ll enjoy equal parts nature, urban lifestyle and boundless history on a trip to India. Pace yourself, pack your walking shoes and enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime family trip.
