Early education is essential for an onslaught of situations we take for granted, one of which is our own health. Discussing the importance of being your own health advocate with kids is a great way to empower them and get them involved in their own wellbeing. With Breast Cancer Awareness Month already halfway through, there are still a lot of great ways to keep the conversation going with the family, give back and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Whether personally invested or just seeking ways to impact nationally, locally and even globally, start small and check out these easy ways to get involved.

Volunteer

From writing encouragement cards and packing care packages to volunteering at a local run or event, there are countless ways to get involved in your area. Read up online about all the ways to get a group together and donate time and effort to a great cause. Not to mention, donating goods, services and time for an important purpose is a fun way to bond with the kids.

Fundraise

Raising money for breast cancer research can be done by signing up for a sponsored run, walk or local function, or think outside the box and start your own event. Don’t let the idea of a run scare you, most are more fun than strenuous and participants come from all over, wearing pink, walking and cheering each other on. Get creative and sign up to create your own group fundraising function with your family, or an individual endeavor; encourage the kids with a student or team sport. They can enlist their friends and find new fun ways to give back together.

Play

While the Game Pink presents Minecraft Live, Oct. 28, at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas, may be a little last minute, it’s not the only gaming fundraiser of its kind. This particular online-gaming event features top names in the industry as well as a meet-and-greet, costume contest, scavenger hunt and merchandise, but peruse the site for more events and news as they pop up, maybe in your area.

Donate

An easy, go-to: donate. Share your donation with friends and family on social media and inspire others to do the same. Think pink and dress the part with the kids while supporting breast cancer research. You’ll feel like a team and wear your support on your sleeves.
